Is a hand crossbow legal in Illinois?
Okay, I THINK I have a 50lb draw hand crossbow that I bought second hand years ago. While sitting in storage, the string broke and I have yet to replace it. Now that I live where muskrats and such are prevalant, I’d like to start taking care of them, but I want to be sure I won’t get in trouble with the police for owning one either for A; not having a license or B; they are illegal period. Thanks!
No, you cannot hunt with that particular crossbow. It is the IL regulations on hunting with a crossbow, yours is too small…See page 7 in the lower right hand side of this link.
