Where to surf fish (type of fishing) in San Diego?
I live in San Diego, and I just discovered a new way of fishing (to me it’s new). And I was just wondering where is the best beach in San Diego to surf fish? Also if you can give me some tips/what to use when I go surf fishing (gear), that will be great thanks.
Also can you tell me if i need a license. I’m 13

Take your pick out of San Onofre State Beach, Oceanside City Beach Environs, Carlsbad State Beach, Leucadia, Encinitas, Solana Beach, Cardiff Beaches, Del Mar Beaches, Torrey Pines State Beach and Park, La Jolla Beaches, La Jolla Reefs, Pacific Beach, Mission Bay, Mission Beach, Ocean Beach, Point Loma Beaches, Coronado Municipal Beach, Silver Strand State Beach, and Imperial Beach.
Take a long 10 or 12 foot surf rod with a spinning reel loaded with 15 pound line, some baitholder hooks and some mussles for surf perch, skates, and rays. Take a shorter ultralight spinning rod with 4 or 6 pound test for light line for tossing sand crabs into the surf.

No license needed. You will need it when you’re 16. Along with a saltwater and 2-rod verification.
