Rifle Scopes With Bullet Drop Compensator
Bullet flight path differences between 5.56 and 7.62NATO/.308 Win?
To begin with, I’m going to be buying a new scope for my rifle which is chambered for .308. I’m primary looking for a tactical-ish scope (3x magnification or less) as opposed to long range hunting scope. The problem is any scope I find is $900+. I’m not looking to spend THAT much on one right now and similar 5.56 scopes are like 1/4 the price plus a far greater variety.
The question is how different is the flight path between 5.56 and 7.62. Would it render the bullet drop compensator completely useless, or would I just need to use Kentucky windage to adjust?

Go to a reliable gun shop and get a scope that works for your .308Win. Ballistics on the .308 Win are similar to a 7.62 NATO, but NOT the same. If you’re looking at 900 buck scopes, rest assured you can pay tons less for decent scopes. I have a EOTECH on my SOCOM 16, and zeroed it at 100 yards. Holdover at 200 yards, or even 300, is based on a chart I keep in my pocket. I can’t memorize all that stuff.
